Dan Holt "Resonator"

In 1997, after five years on the road as part of blues duo Five Believers, Dan Holt embarked on a solo career that now spans nearly 20 years. 2015 saw the release of “Pleasure & Shame,” Dan’s ninth album and one of his best.

“I see the blues as a tradition but I don’t see it as traditional music,” says Holt. “At it’s core, the blues tradition is based on songs and stories. Without great songs, the blues is just a sound.”

“Pleasure & Shame” is an album of just that, great songs. From the desperate junky of the title song, to the aimless drifter of “Big Black Smoke,” to more personal statements like “One Shot of Whiskey,” this is an album with a story to tell.

All of this is performed with the same passion and style that Dan brings to every live performance. His distinct voice, dynamic guitar playing and soulful harmonica combine for a sound that is as powerful as it is unique.

Dan Holt spent much of 2015 promoting “Pleasure & Shame” with shows throughout the US and will continue to do so throughout 2016.
